I’ve had my set for at least 15 years…. We are visiting Pittsburgh for the first time, but actually planned our travels around the prospect of seeing tableware factories or museums in WV. This bright, colorful, and durable dinnerware that was first manufactured in the 1930’s and still is a very popular line. According to the company’s website, unlike early dinnerware, Fiesta Ware has been made with a lead-free glaze since being reintroduced in 1985.

That's why I'm so attached to Fiesta ware. I buy new colors as soon as they're released, to add variety to my pictures. I have a set of the celebration flatware. I have noticed sets for sale but I also noticed that the color setc is different. Is there any way I can obtain the individual pieces to place back in my set? It is full of boxes stacked with slightly flawed Fiesta ware. The flaws vary, and are usually related to the glazing. Some pieces are barely distinguishable from first quality; others have obvious flaws. The color selection and pieces were limited as well; some plates had more than one box, filled to overflowing; others were limited to a handful of pieces. They are half off regular dishes.

There are two sides to the store. The first is the Homer Laughlin Retail Store, with a beautiful display of all currently available Fiesta ware. The prices are roughly the same as in regular stores, except for some seasonal sales, and sales on discontinued pieces. The selction is impressive - every single piece in every available color. For a Fiesta fanatic like me, it felt like a candy shop. Looked like one too, with all the colors.
The colorful pottery is sold across the United States, but a factory tour and stop by the outlet store are only available in Newell. If you are only interested in first quality items, there are plenty available in the factory store…including some discontinued colors when we were there. They had several specials that were better prices than the department stores on their dinnerware and other licensed products. As you plan your mountain road trip, explore one-of-a-kind stays and traditional comforts along the way. The peace and solitude of Almost Heaven is just an overnight stay away. The other side of the store is the Seconds Warehouse.
If you are taking the tour, count on one to two hours for the tour and the outlet store. Not only is the lead-free dinnerware manufactured at the Newell factory, but you can actually take a tour of the factory and watch it being made. The tours are only offered during the week and a visitors need to call a couple of weeks in advance to make reservations. Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods. Shaped by the famous New River Gorge, you’ll find plenty of riverside activities, outdoor adventures and some of the most extraordinary views.
